Pursuing my passions - personal and professional growth with Pinsent Masons

In July 2022, I relocated from India to the UK, to accommodate my husband’s professional obligations. With the move, came in an array of new responsibilities and challenges. One of which was to resign from my previous organisation where I had been working for 7 years and look for a new job, in a new country.

After an extensive series of interviews, I finally had 2 offers, one of which was from the big four and the other one was from Pinsent Masons. I chose Pinsent Masons for multiple reasons. The interview process proved to be a positive experience, leaving me with a sense of satisfaction and confidence. I felt that I could instantly connect with the people during my interviews. They were all very genuine, honest, and approachable. I was comfortable sharing my experiences, goals, and aspirations. Above all, I was clearly able to see myself as a part of the team. And despite my eagerness to begin immediately, I was pleasantly surprised when they kindly granted me a few weeks' time to settle in, allowing me to transition smoothly and adjust to my new surroundings.

My manager, Grant Crawford is very supportive, and I have a high level of autonomy which has enabled me to work creatively, maximise my efficiency and have a better control over my professional life.

My husband’s job involves frequent travel leaving me mostly responsible for everything at home. Flexible working has allowed me to perform efficiently on all fronts. During the past few months, I have worked to my full potential in a completely new industry, developed a robust professional network in and outside of the firm, attended multiple trainings and events for my personal and professional growth and have also revived my long-lost hobby.

My previous work schedule was tremendously hectic and that took a toll on my mental and physical well-being. Also, it left little room for pursuing personal interests. However, with the flexibility here, I can now devote a few hours every week to pursue my passion for painting. I rediscovered the joy and fulfillment that art brings to my life. The flexibility to explore my creative side has had an extremely positive impact on my overall well-being. It has served as a therapeutic outlet, reducing stress, and enhancing my mental health.

I attribute my ability to accomplish all of this to the flexibility provided by Pinsent Masons and their emphasis on promoting mental and physical well-being, which allowed me to carve out the necessary time and energy for self-growth, pursuing my passions and maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
