Role Overview

We are currently recruiting for a fantastic role as a Business Development Manager, UK Locations. This role can be based in any of our UK offices, outside of London

We are looking for a experienced Business Development/Marketing Manager with a professional services background to develop a consistent and connected approach to building our profile, reputation and connectivity as a purpose-led, sector focused firm across the UK regions.

This will include supporting the development and implementation of office-based BD and marketing plans in conjunction with the UK heads of office and fully integrated with the firm’s sector and skillset priorities.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Working with the UK Heads of office, BD sector and group heads and the Head of BD, EMEA, to develop a consistent and coordinated BD plan for the UK regions, further integrating them with firm strategy and priorities, and tailored to the regional audience.
  • Lead on the formulation and oversight of the BD budget to underpin these plans.
    • Ensure activity is aligned to strategy and provides value for money and effectively increases profile and/or client relationships
    • Process/approve BD expenses to ensure consistency with agreed policies and plans
  • Managing delivery of BD activity against agreed plans, establishing partner leads for each project, agreeing actions with partners, sharing best practice and facilitating collaborative working between Offices, Groups and Sectors
  • Building a ‘Civic’ engagement plan of connectivity into the regional communities, identifying key influencers in the market (clients, targets, business organisations, intermediaries, media, etc.)
  • Support partners to take the whole firm to conversations with these influencers, confidently and consistently
  • Identifying clients and targets where a regional presence is a key factor in developing cross selling opportunities and guiding partners on an engagement plan
  • Establishing a PR/social media plan to support the regional plan and sector/skillset/firm-wide messaging into the regions
  • Take an active role in building understanding of the UK regional offering across BD and the wider firm
  • Support the integration of new partners and lawyers into the firm.
  • Coach and guide non BD members, particularly Legal PAs and junior lawyers, on general approach to BD

Relevant Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of the UK regional marketplace
  • Experience of operating in a multi-site, multi-national environment
  • Experience of undertaking a similar role in a partnership environment
  • Experience of supporting and delivering plans in line with agreed strategy in a partnership environment
  • Experience of building relationships with media, external organisations and other key influencers
