Role Overview

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Procurement Category Manager to join our Central Procurement and Contracts Team. This role can be based from either our Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester and Glasgow Office.

The Central Procurement and Contracts (CPC) team combines procurement and legal contract expertise working together to support the firm in its sourcing, contracting and management of 3rd party suppliers, both in the UK and other jurisdictions where the firm has a presence.

The team operates a centre lead approach working with representatives across the various business functions (referred to as the 'buying community') using established policies, procedures and work practices to provide a 'best practice' approach to sourcing, contracting and supply management.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To drive a category management approach across the Technology/IT category delivering a long term category vision.
  • Work with the Technology Services (IT) team to understand their challenges and aspirations.
  • To lead on all high value, high risk procurement activities within the category.
  • To support the analysis of the firms third party spend for your category and identify areas for improvement.
  • To identify efficiencies for this category and propose solutions to relevant stakeholders to implement them.
  • To support and where appropriate lead the development of contract management and supplier relationship management (SRM) across the firm.
  • To provide a high quality of service to internal customers and work with suppliers to ensure the firm gains best value from its supplier relationships.
  • To support the development of the buying community and processes and polices to support the sourcing and contract process.
  • To support the Head of Procurement in ensuring that the procurement team operates according to good industry practice.
  • To support the Head of Procurement in providing advice relating to all procurement, supplier and contract management matters.
  • To support the rollout to new buying areas (International offices).

Candidate Overview

As well as being values-driven, ideally you will bring the following skills and experiences:

  • 6 to 8 years equivalent procurement experience ideally with MCIPS, or equivalent. 
  • Extensive experience of strategic procurement in this category and ideally in an international multi-functional organisation.
  • A track record of building productive relationships across a wide range of professional groups and different organisations, working in partnerships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience of managing and coaching people (desirable).
