Putting the role in context

Our team – you will be in good company!

You will be joining our transactional real estate team of 24 lawyers in Birmingham, one of the leading and most well-established teams in the city.  We advise clients across the whole spectrum of real estate acquisition, site promotion, development, funding, investment and asset management requirements, with particular focus on large scale city and town centre regeneration and mixed use schemes, new business park developments, Grade A office developments and investments, major logistics and manufacturing projects and new urban settlements. Over the past 20 years and more, the team has delivered some of the largest deals in the city/region, as well as routinely advising on high value and complex transactions across the UK.  The team is led by Lisa Middleton and includes a well-established and long standing team of partners, each of whom is well recognised in the market, including:

  • Lisa Middleton, who leads our Midlands investment and asset management practice;
  • Tom Johnson, who leads our UK residential development practice, comprising over 40 lawyers across our offices in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland;
  • Carl Scott, who leads our UK property restructuring practice;
  • Tom Eastwood, who co-leads our award-winning specialist UK property healthcare business; and
  • Kultar Khangura, who leads our Midlands property energy practice.

Our vacancy

We are now looking to appoint a lawyer in Birmingham to join our UK Residential Development team who:

  • is 7+ years qualified in England & Wales with particular experience of advising developers on complex multi-phase, mixed-use/mixed tenure projects,
  • has directly relevant experience gained in a large commercial firm, or in-house legal team
  • is a proven team player, able to forge strong working relationships with colleagues in an agile environment
  • has excellent academics, is technically accomplished, with sound commercial judgment
  • has the interpersonal skills necessary for developing on-going relationships with an existing client base as well as helping to win and grow new opportunities
