Company Profile:

We are currently looking to recruit a consenting lawyer to join our market leading Planning & Environment, Energy & Infrastructure team.  We are ideally looking to recruit a candidate who has between 2-5 years' PQE with experience of (but not necessarily all) the Planning Act 2008, the Transport and Works Act 1992, the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, compulsory acquisition/purchase and compensation matters, EIA/HRA, inquiries/examinations and judicial review.  The successful candidate would work predominantly in our Energy & Infrastructure team on a wide range of projects in various sectors including energy, transport and large development projects.

What our Planning & Environment team is known for:

We are the largest dedicated planning team in the UK with specialists covering a wide range of major projects.  Our Energy & Infrastructure specialists, where this role is primarily based, cover all forms of energy, such as offshore wind, large scale solar, carbon capture plants, nuclear, energy networks and pipelines, and infrastructure, such as new roads, rail, airports and new settlements.  Our clients include developers, funders, investors, local authorities and Government bodies.

Our breadth of experience coupled with our specialist knowledge means that, whether we are advising on a complex multi-million pound energy project or the acquisition, funding or sale of an asset, our clients receive the legal support they require, when and how they want it – often coupled with other legal services delivered by colleagues as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team specialising in Energy and Infrastructure projects.

Pinsent Masons has achieved more tier 1 rankings in The Legal 500 UK guide than any other firm, won the "Law Firm of the Year Award 2019 – Legal Business" for the second time and is recognised among the most innovative law firms in Europe by the Financial Times. Pinsent Masons was also named Law Firm of the Year 2018 by The Lawyer, and is ranked No 4 on the UK Stonewall Workplace Equality Index 2020 and named as one of Stonewall’s Top Global Employers 2020.

The Candidate Required

The successful candidate will ideally have gained experience in consenting major energy & infrastructure projects with a large regional or national practice.  They will have a strong academic background and an outgoing personality.  Candidates must be technically excellent but equally important, commercially aware and enthusiastic about, and demonstrate a track record of, business development.  They will be a team player with a strong client focussed approach.

Lawyers joining this friendly and dynamic team will encounter a broad range of energy and infrastructure work, acting for a range of high profile clients on large and nationally significant energy and infrastructure transactions. Whilst the successful candidate will sit within our UK national Property Group, they will have close links to our energy and infrastructure sectors, which are two of our Global Sectors.
