Role Overview

Pinsent Masons Vario provides a range of professional services to our clients. These include flexible legal provision, diversity & inclusion consultancy, legal project management, legal technology consultancy and managed legal services. We are developing our Managed Legal Services (MLS) to meet our clients' challenges in developing innovative, lower cost delivery models. Service lines will include contracting support, conveyancing, claims management, mass actions, volume litigation, document reviews and company secretarial among others.

This role is responsible for providing business analysis support as required on a broad range of change programmes and client projects, including business transformation, process improvement and technology design/implementation. The business analyst will work closely with delivery managers and stakeholders at all levels to identify and document business requirements, ensuring that the key business needs are met and translating them into user stories for service delivery teams. 

The business analyst will also produce change and communications materials as required including change impact and change readiness assessments, communication plans and associated communications. They will also work collaboratively with other members of MLS to support delivery of change programmes and client projects as required, and to provide consultancy-type support to our wider Vario teams.

Candidate Overview

If you are the ideal candidate for us, you will be a strong business analyst with experience of working in a programme and project delivery environment, and able to work with minimal supervision. You will be well organised with excellent communication skills and the ability to manage and prioritise multiple responsibilities. An analytical but pragmatic approach to problem-solving is essential, combined with commercial awareness to ensure that requirements are achievable and aligned with the firm's strategy. You will also need to build strong working relationships with all levels of staff across MLS, the Vario Group, the firm's lawyers and clients, so excellent communication skills are key. Preferably, you will hold a Business Analysis / Agile accreditation (e.g. AgileBA or BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis). In addition to this, you will have experience in the following:

  • Experience of working in the legal sector or professional services and an understanding of legal business processes.
  • Proven experience of following business analysis best practices, policies, procedures and processes with the ability to adapt them as appropriate to meet the specific needs of the change programme or project.
  • Proven experience with process modelling including the use of appropriate modelling tools, techniques and standards.
  • Understanding of procurement and selection processes including key activities required to manage relationships with third-party implementation partners and/or solution providers.
  • Working experience with various project delivery methodologies and approaches, e.g. Agile, Waterfall, Scrum, Kanban etc.
  • Understanding of product management principles and product ownership techniques to support the creation of themes, epics, features and user stories aligned to business plans and strategic technology roadmap.
  • Understanding of core legal systems, e.g. iManage Work, Aderant PMS, Interaction CRM and BigHand is preferred but not essential.
