We are looking to recruit an Account Manager to join our Vario, Flexible Services team in Birmingham, London or Glasgow.   The Account Manager will be rewarded with a challenging, varied role at the cutting-edge of change in the legal sector and a chance to be involved in the growth and development of a thriving business.

Vario is unique in the legal sector. Now the fifth practice group at Pinsent Masons, Vario Flexible Services is a hub of self-employed lawyers carefully selected not just for their technical expertise but also for their ability to 'fit right in' and add value from day one.  Our 'Varios' (as we call them) work on assignment for clients of PM, non-clients of PM and the firm itself.  In doing so, they enhance the flexibility and focus of the organisations they join.

What is now the Vario Flexible Services offering was founded in February 2013, and since then has gone from strength-to-strength, with supply of high-quality lawyers and legal professionals with demand from clients increasing year on year.

Our Account Managers work at the front-line of delivering the Vario Flexible Services resource, from cradle-to-grave.  They are candidate and client-facing and have a considerable degree of face-to-face and telephone interaction as well as a strong sense of personal ownership of each 'Vario' and each new lead.  The role will also encompass business development within the firm and the firm’s clients. These roles are integral to our success; Account Managers embody the Vario brand in all they do.   

Key Responsibilities

Our Account Managers are at the forefront of our service delivery to clients – those being in house legal teams of all sizes who are utilising our offering across a diverse range of sectors as well as providing contractor support to PM Practice Groups.

The successful candidate will assist with the onboarding of Varios onto our platform by reviewing applications and involvement in interviews and assessment process. They will speak to clients to scope assignments and match Varios to those assignments and close the deal. They will be responsible for all fee negotiation and proposals associated with this process.

During the lifeline of an assignment, the Account Manager will process any extensions and conduct debrief conversations with the client and Vario.

Each Account Manager will be required to take ownership of a number of development projects at a time.  These could range from, for example, the creation of Vario communities within sectors or PQE groups, through to the enhancement of our Vario training programme or the implementation of new selection tools.    

Role requirements

If you are the right candidate for us, you will have previous experience of working within or closely with, a legal service provider or an in-house legal team. You will have an understanding and interest in the legal sector and have experience in legal recruitment.

You will have experience of managing end to end recruitment processes, coupled with an understanding of the legal sector and an in-depth knowledge of the UK recruitment market. Previous experience of practising as a lawyer, business development professional or HR professional is desirable.
