Come and be part of our story! The role We are now looking to recruit to the role of Gym Instructor. The successful applicant will assist in the day-to-day running of the gym ensuring that our guests and members needs are met and they are provided with exceptional customer service at all times. Role expectations Reporting to the General Manager, the Gym Instructor will be expected to: Provide a welcoming environment to all visitors. Deliver gym induction sessions and ensure that all customers know how to safely and effectively use equipment. Assist in safeguarding the security of equipment, users and the building, by carrying out regular checks as directed by the General Manager. Regularly check equipment to ensure it is in safe/effective working order, and report maintenance issues in a timely manner. Provide a first aid service as and when required. Effectively demonstrate, observe and evaluate members to ensure they have a safe operational knowledge of the fitness suite and its equipment. Ensure continuous development and improvement of professional knowledge. To be responsible for advice and support to customers, appropriate to your skills and qualifications, including the directing of activities for users to prevent injury, misuse or damage to facilities. Maintain and process information using both computerised and manual records. Opening and closing up of the gym facilities. Deal with enquiries face to face and by telephone concerning all activities of the gym. Assembling, dismantling and moving of equipment. Adhere to and enforce Health and Safety standards, centre rules, regulations and policies. Work alongside other team members to support in other areas of The Leisure Box. Undertake any other duties appropriate to this role. To be able to work flexible hours where the role of the job requires. To work towards agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)<br>. Comply with all Charity policies. Promote the Burnley Football Club in the Community and Burnley Football Club brand and ethos in a professional, strong and positive manner. To understand and implement the Charity’s Safeguarding policy, procedures, and best practice guidelines in your role. To use this understanding to ensure safe working practices, appropriate reporting of concerns and contribute positively to a safe environment. Work alongside other team members to support in other areas of the organisation as and when required to promote best practice. Hold a commitment to equality and diversity in the workplace and a willingness to undertake all relevant equality and diversity training. An ideal candidate will have; Essential: Minimum level 2 Gym instructor qualification. Experience of delivering gym induction sessions, ensure that all customers know how to safely and effectively use equipment. Ability to assemble, dismantle and move gym equipment. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Good understanding of Health and Safety. Desirable: First aid certificate. Previous experience of working in a leisure centre.
